Registration will open to the community in January each year for the following school year (Aug - May). Applications are accepted on a first- come, first-served basis.
Enrollment Process
Thank you for your interest in The Oak Grove Young Children’s School! We look forward to another wonderful year at The Young Children’s School (YCS) and hope that you’ll decide to be a part of it! Contact our Assitant Director of Admissions, Kathleen Lortie, klortie@ogumc.org for more information and to receive an enrollment packet or download the application form and email it to Kathleen. The details below will guide you through our application/ enrollment process.
Dates To Remember:
- Early January: Registration Opens for Existing YCS Families
- January 18th: Registration Opens for New YCS Families
- February 18 - 21: Winter Break (No School)
- March 7th: Acceptance letters mailed
- April 19th: Parent acknowledgement letter, May tuition and supply fee due
- July 18th: Class assignment and orientation information letters mailed
- August 12th: Orientation
- August 15th: First Day of School
Application Info:
Forms must be received by the YCS office on or before registration deadline in order for your application to be complete and therefore processed.
1. Admission Application and Parent Agreement forms
2. Non-Refundable Registration Fee of $125 is due with your application for the first child
3. $110 Registration Fee is due for each additional child's application
Acceptance Info:
- Your acceptance notification will be sent in March. Enclosed in the mailing is an ACCEPTANCE ACKNOWLEDGEMENT FORM that you must return to OGYCS to accept your spot(s)
Enrollment Info:
- To secure your child’s spot, your acceptance forms, May tuition (last month of following year), and supply fee must be received by the deadline.
- This payment and pre-tuition is non-refundable. We have a waitlist each year. Families that don’t secure their spots by the deadline may forfeit their opportunity to enroll for the upcoming year. All tuition and fees are non-refundable and non-transferable.
- Verbal notification of any kind is not considered an official withdrawal notification.
Class Assignment: Class assignment letters are mailed the last week of July each year.

A non-refundable Registration Fee of $125 is due with your application. Registration Fee for each additional child is $110. All payments are non-refundable and non-transferable.

Enrichment
Chapel
All 3 year olds and Pre K students attend chapel. Large group chapel is held on Monday mornings. Teachers share age appropriate bible stories and verses in each classroom, and lead prayer before snack to support family efforts to promote early God awareness. Stories, songs, and activities promoting, kindness, helping others and developing a grateful heart, are used to promote love of God and others. Families of all faiths are welcome at YCS. We believe that each child is precious in the sight of God.

Fine Motor Fun
With the guidance of Tracey Bell OTR/L, our three and four year old classroom plans promote writing readiness and fine motor skills. Emphasis is on providing varied activities that strengthen fine motor skills with special care to start at each child’s developmental skill level. Fun tasks and activities are organized so each child can move forward at their own pace. Our Panda’s are proud of their draw a person creations.
Music
At YCS music is part of every day. Exposure to all forms of music and instruments help children experience the range of emotion that music conveys. Our music teacher, Jared Rodehorst meets with every class each week. With a joyful, inviting spirit. his lesson plans are created to support classroom learning themes. Music, movement, and rhythm are the basis of every music class. A Christmas program is presented for parents by our 3′s and PreK classes. The age appropriate format is a healthy way for young children to experience the positive excitement of performance.
