FAQs

How can we help?

We understand the demands on families, and strive to be realistic in our expectations.  We welcome parent involvement and leadership!  We welcome each family’s involvement on one YCS Committee. You will be asked about your interest in volunteering in your child’s class at our Meet and Greet days in August.

What are the Oak Grove YCS hours?

School opens at 8:45 a.m. Dismissal begins at 1:00 p.m.  Each child brings their lunch daily,  We ask that you do not bring your child in earlier than 8:45 as teachers are preparing their classroom for the day.  If you need to pick up your child early, please do so by 12:45 p.m.

What is the arrival / dismissal system at OGYCS?

Children younger than 2 years old are dropped off and picked up from their classrooms to develop parent connections.

Two year olds
begin each year being dropped and picked up at their classroom door.  We offer carpool later in the year (January) based on the readiness of each class.

3 year olds & Pre K students are welcomed by YCS teachers at Morning Carpool in the circular driveway in front of the church from 8:45 – 9:00 a.m.
If you arrive after 9:00, you will need to park and walk your child into the building to their classroom.  Our afternoon carpool runs from 1:00 to 1:10 p.m.

What if we arrive late or need to pick up our child early?

If you and your child arrive after 9:00 a.m.you must sign in at the front office.  If you need to pick up your child before 12:45 p.m., please sign out at the front office.

Once classes are in transition to the carpool room, we ask that you not take your child out of line and wait until they arrive at carpool..

When is tuition due?

Tuition is due on the 1st of each month. It is considered late after the 10th.

Does my child need to be potty trained to be in your 3 year old program?

Our 3 year old classrooms are not set-up for diaper changing.   We know that accidents occur.  We treat each incident with understanding and compassion and partner with parents to advance and suppot your potty training process.   If your child  has a BM accident, we will contact you to come to school to change your child into clean clothes.  If the child has repeated frequent accidents, we may ask you to keep them out of school to complete potty training at home.  When they are ready we will welcome them back with special care to support their potty training success.

Are there any parent volunteer requirements in order for my child to attend?

We understand the demands on families, and strive to be realistic in our expectations.  We welcome parent involvement and leadership!  Our only requirement is that each family work two shifts at each consignment sale and other major fundraisers that support school improvement.  We also welcome each family’s involvement on one YCS Committee. You will be asked about your interest in volunteering in your child’s class at our Meet and Greet days in August.

Do you ever offer extended day hours?

Once your child is in a 3 year old class and potty trained, parents can choose Playgroup enrichment classes for their child which end at 2:00 p.m. Different  enrichment opportunities provided by outside companies are offered each year to provide one stop shopping for our families.  A one time Playgroup participation fee of $35.00 is payable to OGYCS.  All other fees are paid directly to the vendors.

What immunizations must my child have in order to attend Oak Grove YCS?

All children attending must have a current State of Georgia #3231 Immunization Form or medical/ religious exemption form on file in our office by the beginning of school.  All childcare programs are audited by the Health Department annually and any child who does not have a current #3231 on file will not be allowed to attend and risk the chance of losing their placement.

What Parents Say About YCS

  • We moved to Atlanta from Colorado and are so glad we found YCS. My kids have thrived here-- they love going to school and are brimming with confidence when they get in the car in the afternoon. I have also found a wonderful community of parents that are open and welcoming. I tell people: YCS is 'normal' preschool done exceptionally well!

  • We feel at home at OGYCS.  We have 4 children so we have been at the school for 6 years.  Two of our children have graduated, one started this year, and our baby will start in another year.  The love our children receive from every member of the staff is unmatched.  Each of our children have their own unique personalities and they have all flourished at OGYCS. We will forever be grateful to the teachers and staff for helping us to raise loving, kind children.

  • We have had the most wonderful experience at YCS. All teacher and staff greet my child with a warm greeting and are enthusiastic to see him each day. As a former teacher, I appreciate seeing the teacher's lesson plans so I can follow-up at home with what he is learning at school. My child's teachers are two of the most kind, perceptive and engaging adults to teach Pre-Schoolers. I am so thankful to know my child is loving learning while in such a special place!

  • We love everything about YCS.  The teachers and administrators are amazing.  You can feel the love when you walk in the door.  Everyone greets you with a smile.  And most importantly, the kids look like they love their school.  As first time preschool parents, we wanted to make sure we put our son in the best school possible.  We knew we made the right decision the second we walked in the door on the first day.  We are blessed to call YCS home!
